The Children

Guided by their teachers, the children take advantage of the fine surroundings, studying and playing in the spacious garden under the skies. The School Correspondent Mr. Ram Mani had donated land for the school (approx 50 cents). The school boasts of a beautiful spacious building with well-lit and colourful classrooms.

Quality and value-based education is accessible to all children irrespective of their social and economic background.

The school provides suitable goals to students of all abilities in order to create opportunities of discovery for them to realize their full potential.

The unique feature of this school is that it imparts education in Tamil and English, making the child adept in both the languages. The school seeks to inculcate, in addition to academics, universal values of kindness, truth, creativity and a love of nature – to develop in the children sensitivity for fellow beings and the environment.

My School believes in the holistic approach; keeping this perspective in view, we have computers, yoga, nature appreciation, music, dance, drama, hygiene, civic awareness, and sports such as cricket, football and karate as part of the school's curriculum. We have also initiated literacy and vocational classes (tailoring and basket weaving) for local women. Our conviction being that when you educate a woman, essentially, you educate the entire family.

The Education Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Dindigul district, has chosen this as a model school among the forty schools they had surveyed in the year 2005.

Thanks to our donors and well-wishers, our library, books and teaching materials are ever expanding. Two small playgrounds with swings and other play equipment allow the students to enjoy playtime in a safe and friendly environment.

Children participate in medical camps wherein health checkups are a regular feature of the school's program.

The children are given uniforms every year, which is kindly donated by RCC, Chennai.

The school provides the children a nutritious, vegetarian noon meal. The raw material is kindly donated by RYA Metro Star, Chennai, whereas the children grow the vegetables organically in the school garden.

State Bank of India, Chennai has kindly donated the classroom furniture.

The school building literally grew brick by brick, thanks to donors, friends, volunteers and corporate well-wishers.

Our school admissions are secured by our parents even before we are born into the world. There are children out there who do not know the joy of waking up every morning & saying 'I'm off to school'! They have to go to work, most often in terrible conditions or stay at home & look after their younger siblings while their parents go to work!

Do visit us in Kodaikanal to see our work.
